VNS Services and Programs: Home Health Care

Even before there was Medicare or Medicaid, VNS was providing home health care services. And now that home care is available from a number of sources, the VNS team is still the first choice in the field.

All of our Home Care professionals bring commitment and compassion to the care of their patients. After a rigorous screening process that ensures only the most qualified have been selected, they receive continuous training on the latest medical technologies and care techniques.

The result is superior home health care services from the finest providers in the profession.

QUESTIONS YOU SHOULD ASK ABOUT YOUR HOME CARE PROVIDER

1. Are they licensed?

Visiting Nurse Service is a certified and licensed healthcare agency. We are licensed through the state of Indiana and certified by the Federal and State programs of Medicare and Medicaid. Being licensed and certified allows VNS to provide the highest level of home and community based services, such as Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Therapists and para-professionals.

A non-licensed agency can only offer non-licensed services such as homemaker and sitter-companion services.

2. Who makes up their staff?

Our VNS professional staff are registered or licensed, bonded and insured and include:

  • Skilled Nurses
  • Certified Home Health Aides
  • Physical Therapists
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Speech Language Pathologists
  • Nutritionists
  • Medical Social Workers

3. Is there adequate supervision?

VNS follows Indiana state and federal regulations.
Home health aides are supervised by a health care professional (nurse or therapist) to ensure competent provision of care.
Registered nurses and therapists must report to a Clinical Care Coordinator. Case conferences (daily if necessary) are made to ensure that all physician orders are followed and all services to the patient are provided with the patient and/or family's input.

4. Is the pricing reasonable?

As a not-for-profit organization, our fees are competitive and vary according to the skill level required. We also accept Medicare assignments.

5. And with whom are they affiliated?

VNS has affiliations with many organizations including five central Indiana hospitals including Hendricks Community Hospital, Winona Memorial Hospital, Wishard Memorial Hospital, Howard Regional Hospital, Ball Memorial hospital and Witham Memorial Hospital. We are also a long-standing member of the United Way of Central Indiana and United Way of Johnson County. In 2005, VNS was invited to join the United Way of Howard County. And lastly, we are accredited by the Joint Commission on Healthcare Organizations
